One of my favourite design quotes is: "Good desig One of my favourite design quotes is:

"Good design is obvious. Great design is transparent." — Joe Sparano

At first glance, that sounds contradictory. Shouldn't great design be the one that grabs attention? The one that stops the scroll and gets compliments? The one that has everyone asking, "Who designed this?"

Not necessarily.

Good design catches your eye because it's easy to notice and appreciate.

Great design, however, often disappears into the experience. It doesn't scream for attention. It simply does its job.

Think about the last website you enjoyed using. You probably don't remember the exact font pairing, button style, or colour palette.

But what you remember is that you found what you were looking for. You knew exactly where to click to get what you wanted and that process felt effortless.

That's transparent design. It goes beyond aesthetics. Its success isn't measured by how much attention it receives. It's measured by the impact it has on the people using it.

>>It creates clarity.
>>It removes friction.
>>It guides decision-making.
>>It enhances the customer experience.

In other words, it's not just about how something looks. It's about how it works and how it improves the lives of the people it's designed for.

That's the difference between good design and great design.

Both can be visually impressive, but only one is intentionally built around the customer experience.

So here's something to think about:

Are your designs merely good, or are they creating a better experience for your customers?

Is your website making life easier for your customers, or making them work for the information they need?

Diary Of A CEO has me locked in.( using it as a business menu. Lots to unpack with very practical steps & lessons )

June has been a game changer in so many ways. Looking forward to what the rest of the week has prepared.
The day you stop refining your brand strategy, mes The day you stop refining your brand strategy, messaging, and marketing is the day your business begins to decline.

Not overnight nor dramatically, but slowly, quietly, and often without you noticing that somethings off.

One of the biggest challenges in business is becoming comfortable with what worked yesterday. We reach a milestone, hit a revenue goal, attract a certain caliber of client, and assume we've arrived.

But the truth is markets, customers, industries and strategies keep evolving even when don't want to.

And the businesses that continue to grow are the ones willing to evolve alongside them.

When you finally hit that $100K goal, celebrate it and enjoy everything that comes with it.🥂

But don't mistake that milestone for the final destination.

Because if you didn't plan beyond that moment, what was once consistent growth can quickly become stagnation.

The strongest brands aren't built by standing still, they're built by continuously refining, adapting, and positioning themselves for what's next.
Exploring different ways to phrase the same idea: Exploring different ways to phrase the same idea:

1. People only notice you when they need something from you.

2. Your value is only obvious when people understand how you help them.

3. People don't buy what you do. They buy what it does for them.

4. People don't care about your brand until they see how it benefits them.

5. Nobody values what doesn't benefit them.

6. People aren't looking for your service. They're looking for the solution it provides.

Different wording. Same principle.🫡

Customers don't invest 🤑 your business because of what you offer, they invest when you clearly show what's in it for them.

The purpose of branding is to stand out. Yet one The purpose of branding is to stand out.

Yet one of the most common requests designers receive is:

"Can you make mine look like theirs?"

And every time I hear that question, I find myself asking:

What happened to standing out?

What happened to creating something distinctly your own rather than looking like everyone else in your industry?

The goal of branding has always been to create distinction. To carve out your own space in a saturated market and give people a reason to remember you.

Yet, the irony is that many businesses spend years trying to look like their competitors, while the businesses they admire became successful by doing the exact opposite.

Think about the brands you instantly recognize.

Chances are, they didn't build their reputation by copying what everyone else was doing. They built it by embracing what made them different.

Which is why it always catches me off guard when a client asks me to replicate another business's brand colours, logo, or website design.

I've even had prospective clients walk away because I refused to recreate someone else's work.

As creatives, designers, and brand strategists, our job isn't to help businesses blend in. It's to help them become recognisable in a very saturated market.

Because if your entire strategy is built around looking like someone else, you've already lost the very thing that makes your brand valuable: its uniqueness.

The truth is: The brands that leave a lasting impression aren't usually the ones following the crowd....They're the ones brave enough to create their own lane.🥂
